Earlier this year the quiet paddocks of Hororata, Canterbury came alive as Rutland Street Church (Christchurch) and Glentunnel Rally joined forces for an unforgettable combined day with the Wind & Wheels Trailer.
The Wind & Wheels Trailer travels around the country giving Rallies the opportunity to run combined Rally events, and community events to engage new kids and families.
The highlight of the day was the sheer variety of activities made possible by the extra space. In the larger paddock, members took to the Blo-karts and filled the sky with kites, while others tested their speed on downhill carts.
The energy remained high throughout the day with a Gaga pit, a bracelet beading station, and a wide range of outdoor games that made the most of the rural setting.
A vital part of the day’s success was the leadership of the Rally Cadets (Cadets are young developing leaders aged 15-18). From the initial setup to running the various stations, it was inspiring to see these young leaders taking ownership in their growing roles. Their involvement is a key part of our wider development programme, which focuses on growing teenagers in leadership and Christian character through hands-on service.
After a classic sausage sizzle snack, the group gathered for a Bible lesson focused on seeds and the different kinds of soil, which had extra impact in the farming setting!
