‘That was so helpful!’ It’s a simple, but profound, summary of what it means to attend a seminar for church leaders run by Dr Darrell Bock.
Darrell Bock is one of the world’s most preeminent New Testament scholars, an author of over 40 books and podcast host of The Table: exploring the intersection of theology, culture and everyday life.
During the month of June CCCNZ is hosting a number of seminars for leaders across the country, ‘12 things to consider to get out of the polarisation cul de sac’.
On Saturday 20 June, local CCCNZ leaders came together at Raleigh Street Christian Centre, Cambridge. In a world where polarising views exist in society and the church, having positive, gospel‑focused discussions can be difficult.
Darrell unpacked ‘12 points’—considerations to help Christians build relationships and develop discussion around polarising situations as they share the gospel and engage in conversations about significant events today.
The variety and depth of questions afterwards showed just how significant an issue this is for the church today and highlighted the importance for us as followers of Christ to know how to present the gospel to a world that often has no framework for it or share Christian core values and beliefs.
The seminar was a poignant challenge to remember that engagement is the goal, and non-believers are not the enemy.
