Riverside Camp is a partnership between Tāmaki Community Church, Tāmaki Community Development Trust, Pt England School, and Willow Park Christian Camp. In the last week of September, 50 primary-aged Māori and Pasifika children, together with 30 helpers and supporters, arrived by bus to Willow Park to enjoy a full programme of fun activities and biblical teaching.
Shannon Samuels and the team from Tāmaki Community Church, supported by the Willow Park staff team, ran a variety of exciting (and sometimes delightfully revolting!) games and activities and the campers enjoyed water sports at Eastern Beach across the road from camp.
A highlight of the week was the seven lotu (chapel) sessions, where campers had the opportunity to explore faith, ask questions, and reflect on God's love.
It is especially encouraging to hear that 21 young people made the decision to invite Jesus Christ into their lives. Many others also prayed for their families, sought reassurance in their faith, recommitted their lives to God, or shared personal concerns in prayer.
Several generous individuals and organisations gave funding support to help make this camp a reality. Te Maru Christian Camps provided financial support through their Life Changers Camp Sponsorship fund. Whether it’s a kid’s camp, youth camp, family camp, or other ministry gathering run by a CCCNZ camp – this fund helps remove financial barriers so more people can experience the life-changing impact of camps.
