Quinton and his family walked into Kelston Community Church (KCC) one Sunday morning about a year ago, when he was searching for a deeper understanding of the Bible and a more personal growing relationship with God.
That day, Pastor Paul Long was preaching a sermon on the life of Samuel as part of an expository series from the book of 1 Samuel. This piqued the interest of Quinton and his wife Sylvia, as their son's name is Samuel.
Paul says, “They felt it could not be a coincidence, and we spent time after the service discussing the sermon and expository preaching.” They felt God was teaching them from His Word and decided to stay at KCC.

Paul comments:
“Over time, they came for dinner, and we started spending time conversing about their life's journey and spiritual matters.
“After some encouragement, Quinton made a commitment to attend a new home group study and fellowship group that I began for the new people who had been coming to Sunday service. Within a couple of months, he was participating actively in the fellowship and the discussions.”
When the 2025 Alpha course started, he joined to learn more about his faith. Then one day, without any prompting, he told Paul he wanted to get baptised. He attended KCC’s baptism class and then set a date.
Quinton shared his touching testimony with the church family (above left), saying:
“I was born in a Catholic family, and my parents and wider family are still Catholic. However, my decision to accept Jesus Christ as my lord and saviour has come from within my heart in finding a deeper relationship with Lord Jesus Christ, with the promise of his everlasting peace and salvation.
“…Getting baptised is the next step in my relationship with Jesus to fully surrender myself to Him... Now that I understand the love and sacrifice that Jesus had made for our sins, it truly justifies that I should publicly declare my commitment of faith to Lord Jesus Christ.
“I’m thrilled to take this step in my journey with Lord Jesus Christ and be a part of this beautiful community that supports, encourages and develops my faith each day.”
