Earlier this year, Auckland Bible Church (ABC) offered the church family a unique opportunity to reflect on Scripture in a personal and creative way during a Sunday morning service.
For the second year in a row, the church created a space called Reflection Stations, 26 thoughtfully prepared stations spread throughout the building. Each one included a Bible passage, reflection questions, and a creative response, inviting people to slow down and engage deeply with God’s Word.
The time was shaped around Scriptures like 2 Timothy 2:7–9 and 2 Timothy 3:16–17, with each station offering an unhurried invitation to reflect on God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and consider one’s own walk with Jesus.
Rather than completing every station, people were encouraged to move at their own pace, engaging with the reflections that were most helpful to them.
The feedback was heartfelt and encouraging:
“This space was just what I needed to reconnect with God.”
"After a busy heavy hard week at work, this time was exactly what I need to process what God was doing in my life."
"I found it helpful to encounter Scripture with a different approach."
"Having the chance to personal reflect on a piece of Scripture was very beneficial to my relationship with God."
“One of the stations challenged me to make a decision and move forward spiritually.”
The Reflection Stations were a team effort, with creative and practical input from across the ABC community, including Audrey Burt and students from Capernwray Bible School.
Lead Pastor Hayden Johns shared the story with us, saying, “We wanted to create space for people to personally reflect on Scripture, and be open to what God was doing in their lives.”
We're grateful to Hayden for sharing this with us. If you're looking for a fresh way to help your church family slow down and engage with God’s Word, this might be something to try.
