Each month this year, a group from Riccarton Community Church and Rutland St Church meet for a Preaching Development course in Christchurch, led by Matt Meek (Riccarton) and Lance Robinson (Rutland St). The course aims to equip the next generation of Bible teachers for their contexts—whether that’s teaching children, leading youth ministries, or preaching to the whole church.

Flowing from the 2024 CCCNZ Langham Preaching Training, these trainees are learning about core convictions around preaching, about observation, illustration and application, about the big idea of a passage and about delighting in God's Word bringing transformation.
Paul urges Timothy to be one who “correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). Clear, faithful preaching and teaching are how we see God’s Spirit draw people to Jesus.
South Island Enabler Tim Hodge visited the training last night and says, “It's a joy to see churches working together in training to point people to Jesus.”
Matt Meek (Riccarton) and Lance Robinson (Rutland St) participated in a “training the trainers” week last winter, led by Paul Windsor with Langham Preaching.
As a result, Matt and Lance have developed a preaching development course for 2025. It has been going well, offering many opportunities to grow in core convictions and to sharpen one another’s messages as they serve the Lord in their local contexts.
