During the last week of the school holidays, Onslow Community Church ran its Sow & Grow holiday programme and welcomed 78 children through its doors.
Based on the parable of the four soils, each day helped kids think about the different heart responses people have to the gospel. From there, they explored the fruit that grows in the lives of those who follow Jesus, learning about the fruit of the Spirit in fun, accessible ways.
Pastor Peter Rhodes-Robinson says they were thrilled to welcome 78 children to their holiday programme and that “It was an invigorating few days, and super-encouraging for all!”
Peter's highlights included:
“The enthusiastic, energetic participation of our youth (including some next level dramas!); Many families returning from previous years; A good number of families from our kindergarten attending (Continuing a connection with families after they leave kindy); And the kids themselves of course! It was neat to see them enjoying the programme and taking it all in.”
A Friday night family gathering was well attended, offering more opportunities to connect with parents and share the gospel.
Peter adds:
“We can't overstate enough the opportunity that programmes like this provide to encourage, train, and develop gift in our youth, and the unity & togetherness that comes from serving intergenerationally as a church family.”
Peter is thankful for the team at Onslow who participated in so many different ways, and for the work God is doing through them to reach children and families with the good news of Jesus.
