Last week, New Plymouth Community Church (NPCC) had the joy of running a school holiday programme in partnership with Word of Life (WOL).
Youth Pastor Jake Moir says:
“Our church was filled with laughter, energy, and the powerful message of the gospel as the Word of Life team served us and our community with creativity and passion.”
Each day was packed with high-energy activities, clear Bible teaching, and team challenges. The WOL team connected effortlessly with the kids, and their commitment didn’t stop at the programme itself. They also spent time pouring into NPCC’s teenage leaders, eating together, opening the Word, and encouraging them in their own walks with Jesus and their growth as young leaders.
NPCC had the opportunity to host the WOL team in their homes and around their tables, an act of service that deepened the sense of partnership. Youth Pastor Jakob Moir reflects, “It really felt like a mutual partnership, and one that left us encouraged and thankful.”
Jake’s biggest highlight of the week was that several kids made the decision to follow Jesus, and many more took home Bibles for the first time. “These moments remind us why we do this: to plant seeds of faith, create spaces for kids to encounter Jesus, and build bridges between families and the local church”, he writes.
It was a huge effort from volunteers, cooks, leaders, billet hosts, bakers, but definitely worth it. Let’s pray that what began last week continues to grow in the hearts and homes of every child who came to the programme.
