Christchurch Korean Church held their Winter Conference last weekend, welcoming Pastor Jason Winslade from Redemption Church Christchurch as their guest speaker.
It was a weekend shaped by deep teaching, heartfelt singing in both Korean and English, the joy of coming together across generations, and good food.
The theme of the conference reflected the church’s own vision: Manifesting the life of Jesus in our bodies. Jason helped bring this to life through three sessions grounded in Scripture:
Manifesting Christ Through Our Daily Lives (John 1:35–42), where Jason reminded attendees that the life of Christ in us is meant to be visible, not hidden.
Manifesting Christ Through Our Relationships, particularly when there is conflict. Drawing on Philippians 4:2–3, Jason spoke on the importance of unity and reconciliation, grounded in humility and the gospel.
Manifesting Christ Through Our Service (Romans 12:3–8), highlighting how each believer has received spiritual gifts from God to serve the church. While the gifts differ, all are essential in glorifying God and blessing others.
One special element of the weekend was that Jason’s sermons were simultaneously translated into Korean for the older members of the church whose first language isn’t English, while the younger generation listened comfortably — a reversal of what usually happens on a Sunday!
They were also joined by friends from Redemption Church and others who had previously visited.
As the weekend drew to a close, there was much to reflect on — and much to look forward to. Christchurch Korean Church expressed a desire to collaborate more with Redemption Church in the future, confident in God’s ongoing work among them.
