Scholarships Enabler Liz Hodge had the privilege of catching up with two groups of interns and theology students in the Waikato this week.
Liz writes:
"On Sunday afternoon, we were kindly hosted at the home of Andrew Linton, elder from Hukanui Bible Church.
"Sam Crosbie, Caleb Wilkinson-Mackie, Julie McKinnon, and Jenn Miller have in common that they’re all studying at Master’s level, and each was interested to hear about the others' area of particular focus, and how their studies have been helpful in serving their home churches."
On Monday evening, Dave Firth from Kaipaki Bible Church kindly hosted a gathering at their church building. In attendance were Jackie Millar, Eliza Hobby, and Jeremy Suisted from Raleigh Street Christian Centre; Levi Panther from Chapel Hill Community Church; Dave Firth from Kaipaki Bible Church; and, from Kauaeranga Valley Christian Camp, manager Philip Taylor, with interns Miles, Ezekiel, Jacob, Dyadre, and Mikyle.
As well as reflecting on recent learnings, they were able to have a great discussion about the value of different types of internships in camps and churches, laying foundations for future Christian service.
Liz highlights that "among both groups, there was a sense that theological training is best done in the community of faith. Many people commented on how encouraging it can be when church family and church leaders take an interest in their studies."
Everyone asked Liz to pass on heartfelt thanks to the trustees of Lichfield Lands, who kindly provide the JH Baldwin Scholarship, saying that it helps remove a barrier to this precious opportunity to study.
