We love sharing stories about discipleship and the Great Commission in action. Every story and testimony are special, showing God’s mercy, grace, and faithfulness in a different way.
This week, I loved hearing of Johan and Danielle being baptised at Matamata Bible Church.
Pastor Dean McDonnell says, “It was wonderful to see two people with quite different testimonies baptised at Matamata Bible Church recently.”
Johan was christened as a young child and was thankful to be raised in a home where he knew about God. But as he grew, he realised that really knowing God’s salvation and forgiveness is a personal decision, and he trusted the Lord Jesus as Saviour. He was thrilled to be baptised as his own choice of obedience.
Danielle grew up not knowing much about God at all. Through some very hard times she admitted that she even resented the fact that if there is a God, why would He allow such pain? She had been in touch with several people at Matamata Bible Church through different ministries, and they were praying for her.
Nearly a year ago, in the middle of things that were really holding her down, she decided to pray and ask that if God was really there, would He help her in her need. Exactly six months later—on a Sunday—she attended a church service to share that God had answered her, and that she knew it was true: God is real, and He cared for her.
Since then, she has been attending services and has come to realise that even better than God being able to help us when we are in need, He is also the God who saves our souls when we ask! She trusted the Lord as Saviour. “It was a real joy for all of us to see her obey the Lord in baptism,” Dean shared.
