It was a joy to be at the Canterbury Regional Summit on Saturday.
Hosted by Rutland Street Church, friends from 12 churches around the region gathered to be encouraged in hearing what God is doing in and through Canterbury, with workshops and forums sparking conversation and prayer, often over fantastic food.
Bryndwr Chapel led us in praise so well, and Andre Posthuma (Emmett Street Community Church), preached so clearly from 1 Corinthians 1 about a foolish message and a foolish people. I came away very encouraged; it was a real highlight of the year!
South Island Regional Enabler Tim Hodge writes:
"There were so many highlights, but one was hearing from Carlos Garrido. He's moved from Chile to Timaru and found such a welcoming church whānau with Church Street Bible Chapel. My Spanish is very limited, but it was lovely hearing him and Liz Hodge (Scholarships Enabler) talking in Spanish, which, as one Colombian friend once told me, is 'the language of heaven'!
"I particularly appreciated the wisdom of elders in the forum on Identifying, Inviting and Training New Elders. Elders from Rutland Street Church, Halswell Community Church, Church Street Bible Chapel, Riccarton Community Church and Emmett Street Community Church sharing ideas, practices and key verses was a great joy."
