Ministry is not meant to be carried alone.
Last week at Lead Well, teams of leaders from CCCNZ churches across NZ came together to explore what it means to lead with others, not just for them.
Notably, these teams of leaders work with younger generations--serving in ministries with youth, young adults, camping, and children & families. They spent three days at Willow Park in Auckland focusing on building, equipping, and sustaining healthy volunteer teams across their areas of ministry.
It may sound new, but it’s actually the much-loved NextGen Summit with a fresh name. Lead Well better reflects the heart of this event: equipping, encouraging, and sustaining church leaders of all ages who are shaping the faith of the next generation. Same kaupapa. New name.
Chris Leadbeater and Andrea Legg are part of the team leading these ministries at The Anchor Church in Whitby. For them, Lead Well is an invaluable part of their calendar:
"Connection is a key reason we prioritise coming to Lead Well as a team. Getting together with like minded people is so helpful, hearing how other people do things at their church, and receiving encouragement from others as you get the opportunity to discuss and work through ministry frustrations and concerns."
Keynote Speaker Sean Young (Grace Church) unpacked Exodus 18:17-23 for the group across four together sessions, while workshop presenters Katrina Allred (Grace Church), Alex Pope (Birkenhead Community Church), Craig Barrow (CCCNZ Youth & Young Adults), Julie McKinnon (CCCNZ Children & Family Ministries), and Nigel Winder (Rosedale Bible Chapel and SUNZ) unpacked different topics in their sessions.
With over 50 people coming from over 17 different churches and camps around the CCCNZ movement it was a great time of connection, collaboration and learning together.
It's great to see relationships developing over the Word and prayer, and seeing these grow across the year as leaders work together in their different regions and ministries to grow healthy teams serving the 'next generations' in CCCNZ/Open Brethren Heritage churches and camps.
