Willow Park Camp Manager Michelle Willis welcomes Highland Home to Te Maru by cutting the ribbon.
On Tuesday 50 people came together at Highland Home Christian Camp in Manawatū to mark the welcome of Highland Home to Te Maru.
Te Maru Christian Camps is an operating company that was developed out of the camping project--a series of hui that looked at ways Open Brethren Heritage camps could be sustainably operated while keeping the gospel of Jesus Christ as Lord first and foremost.
Te Maru operational and camping staff joined CCCNZ staff, local leaders and past camp leaders, committee members and board to mark the occasion.
It was a joy to meet some of the people who were instrumental in the camp's history, including Melvyn and Jocelyn Smith who managed the camp for nearly 30 years, from 1989. Grace and Richard Print from Church on Vogel were also there, Richard served on the original committee that established the campsite in the Pohangina Valley location.
