CDN Trust recently brought together emerging kids-camp leaders from 13 churches—including Riccarton Community Church and Rutland St Church—for a leaders development camp at Woodend Christian Camp.
Community Development Network Trust is a Christian-based youth work agency based in Riccarton Community Church.
62 kids camp leaders and future kids camp leaders (aged 14-18) came together to develop and grow in their leadership ability—they enjoyed playing archery tag (provided by Word of Life), the waterslide and volleyball while getting to know each other.
Speakers included Emma Robinson from Rutland Street Church and Laura Hewett from Riccarton Community Church. The main theme of the sessions was "How to stay close to Jesus" with practical electives such as "Dealing with difficult questions", "Power of Play", and "Mission Drift in youth work".
CDN Manager James Harris says it was so encouraging to see teenagers going deeper. “…diving into deep theological topics and exploring how to talk about them with humility, grace and kindness and how to ask good questions. Conversations throughout the camp included how to answer questions like: ‘do people who commit suicide go to heaven?’ ‘Why does God care so much about sex?’ ‘Why would God send a good person to hell?’”
