For one week over summer, MiCamp Taupō became a hub of focused learning and lively conversation as more than 77 people from churches across the country gathered for Lake Learning. Among them was Lower North Island Regional Enabler Miles Davison, attending the programme for the first time.
Bringing together participants from a wide range of churches, Lake Learning offers an intensive week of Bible teaching that fosters deep engagement with Scripture and meaningful connection across the wider church community.
“The location is absolutely fantastic and really adds to the event, but the stand out encouragement was the quality of the leanring material and the depth of the teaching.”
Miles says the week provides a valuable opportunity to connect with people from like-minded churches. “I got to have some really significant conversations with people—both from around the Lower North Island and beyond—the week-long event means you’ve got time and space to develop those relationships as you learn together and enjoy the surroundings.”
Organiser Shane Wildermoth (Te Awamutu Bible Chapel) says it’s a full programme, with most days including around six hours of lectures and plenary talks. “What encourages me is seeing so many people, young and old, get back into the Word of God, giving time during their holidays to studying the Bible.”
Shane also commends the group of lecturers who teach each year. Lake Learning is structured as a five-year programme, with cohorts returning annually to dive deep into subjects such as NZ Church History, Ethics, and a range of doctrinal topics.
As numbers continue to grow, Shane says organisers are exploring the possibility of starting a camp in the South Island in the coming years.
