Over the summer, four young women from Kingston Community Church in Palmerston North joined a beach mission with OAC (Outreach and Church Ministries) to learn and grow their evangelism skills.
Emily, Ellie, Abby, and Isla headed up to Thornton Beach Camp to be part of a team seeking to share the gospel through a children’s programme.
As they served, they learned. Ellie says she learned all about “God’s love for everyone, especially in this case, the children.” She says she was reminded of how uniquely and amazingly God created each one of them.
They were also challenged to grow in their faith as part of the experience. Abby says she discovered “how important it is to stop... slow down and give my time to God, through serving, reading, and praying.”
Being part of a team and working together played a key role in the training. Isla reflects on how taking part in a beach mission is more than just a fun time in a beautiful location. “It’s all about showing Jesus to children in word and action... going with the right attitude.”
Emily, Ellie, Abby, and Isla were generously supported financially by 3TRUSTS as recipients of the David Bay Evangelism Scholarship, which is for Christians from CCCNZ/Open Brethren Heritage churches wanting to further their gifting in evangelism. The David Bay Evangelism Scholarship is kindly provided by the Hillview Trust and Lichfield Lands Incorporated.
Emily, Ellie, Abby, and Isla are part of Lifeline Youth at KCC and are actively serving in church outreach, including leading at KCC’s regular holiday programmes. They were prayerfully supported by the church family while serving with OAC’s Thornton Beach Mission.
