Ministry is not meant to be carried alone.
At Lead Well 2025, we’ll explore what it means to lead with others, not just for them. We’ll focus on how to build, equip, and sustain healthy volunteer teams across children's, youth, and young adult ministries.
It may sound new, but it’s actually the much-loved NextGen Summit with a fresh name. Lead Well better reflects the heart of this event: equipping, encouraging, and sustaining church leaders of all ages who are shaping the faith of the next generation. Same kaupapa. New name.

At Lead Well we’ll tackle real-life challenges like training volunteers when time and resources are tight, balancing expectations without burning people out, and keeping leaders motivated, spiritually grounded, and excited about the mission.
Whether you're overseeing a large team or just starting out, this event will offer practical tools, shared wisdom, and space to be refreshed as a gospel-shaped leader.

13-15 October 2025
Join us for three days, where we will explore what it takes to build, equip, and sustain healthy volunteer teams.
Who is Lead Well for?
Leaders working in CCCNZ/Open Brethren Heritage churches or camps who are serving in and growing leaders for ministry among children and families, youth & young adults.
Who could you bring along? Who are you investing in?
Lead Well is most valuable when you come as a team, contributing, connecting and learning together to grow a shared vision for ministry and create lasting impact.

'Connection is a key reason we prioritise coming to Lead Well as a team. Getting together with like minded people is so helpful, hearing how other people do things at their church, and receiving encouragement from others as you get the opportunity to discuss and work through ministry frustrations and concerns'.
- Chris Leadbeater and Andrea Legg (Children & Families and Youth Ministry Leaders from The Anchor Church, Wellington)

Why come to Lead Well?
Lead Well has a mixture of whole group sessions, workshops, small group discussions, as well as some time to rest and connect with leaders from all over the country.
All of these opportunities are interactive, practical, theologically-formed and there to help shape and form the way you build healthy teams in your context.

'Moses’ father-in-law replied, “What you are doing is not good. You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone”'.
- Exodus 18:17-18
We'll be unpacking Exodus 18:17-23 in our four 'together' sessions, followed by cross ministry discussion groups. These are designed to help us understand what God's Word is saying and work through possible application together. More info on workshops to come.

Meet Keynote Speaker Sean Young
"Hi, my name is Sean Young, and I love Jesus. I love his Church and am passionate about seeing the Church impact the communities around us with his gospel. I am married to Kiri, and have two sons, Caleb (12) and Jamie (9). I am invested in church and church leadership with a deep desire to see another generation of young people raised up to lead the church well into the future. My current job is a Police Officer, working in the family harm space. I am so excited to be able to engage with leaders at Lead Well as we are sharpened by the Word and the Spirit to grow in our knowledge and ability around leading God’s people."

"Although I've been in ministry a couple of years now, I still enjoy topics that remind me to keep the main thing front and centre. Discipleship and communicating the gospel is something that never gets old, and that I'm forever learning more about. As I practice these things throughout the year, I know I'll be able to bring my questions to Lead Well as I rub shoulders with other pastors and ministry leaders. If you love Jesus, and interested in how to do this ministry thing with young people, get yourself to Lead Well!"
