CHILDREN'S MINISTRY DIRECTOR (Part Time) - GRACE CHURCH

Children’s Ministry Director

Status: Part time (15 hours per week including Sundays)

Overview

Psalm 127:3 tells us children are a gift from the Lord, not only to parents but to the church and the world. Therefore, we value children and take seriously our responsibility as God’s people to care for them, nurture them and point them to their need of a Saviour, so that they may put their trust in him and walk with him the rest of their days.

The purpose of the Children’s Ministry Director is to aid us in this endeavour by providing overall leadership to our Children’s Ministry and overseeing curriculum and training new workers.

The age group focus for our Children’s Ministry Director is pre-school through to year 6.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide overall vision and leadership to the Children’s Ministry at Grace Church, ensuring it maintains a balance between an upward focus (worship and teaching), inward focus (discipleship and community), and outward focus (evangelism and outreach).
  • Oversee all the Sunday morning children’s programs at Grace Church, ensuring that each one is run with excellence and creativity, and the leaders and helpers are appropriately trained and resourced.
  • Oversee the selection and adaptation (or development) of curriculum from pre-school to Year 6 aged ministries that teaches the Scriptures to the children in creative, accurate and age-specific ways.
  • Explore ways to engage with children and young families outside of Grace and develop connections in the community.
  • Ensure that children transition as smoothly as possible between different children’s ministry programs.
  • Recruit, supervise and develop teachers and helpers for each ministry age-group.
  • Lead quarterly volunteer meetings / workshops for children’s volunteers to show appreciation, cast vision and provide training, as well as offering other training opportunities as needed.
  • Assist the Young Families Pastor in providing pastoral care to the children in the Children’s Ministry, as well as their families and ministry volunteers as needed.
  • Ensure children’s areas are safe and secure environments and train leaders in security processes.
  • Regularly review and update health and safety policies pertaining to Children’s Ministry at Grace.

To the Associate Pastor on behalf of the elders of Grace Church.


NOTE: This position of Children’s Ministry Director could be combined with the position of Young Families Pastor (See alternate Job Description) if the appropriate applicant was found. As a combined role would require a wider skill set, further discussion may be had around the makeup of a combined role.

YOUNG FAMILIES PASTOR (Part Time) - GRACE CHURCH

Young Families Pastor

Status: Part time (20 hours per week including Sundays)

Overview

Psalm 127:3 tells us children are a gift from the Lord, not only to parents but to the church and the world. Therefore we value children and take seriously our responsibility as God’s people to care for them, nurture them and point them to their need of a Saviour, so that they may put their trust in him and walk with him the rest of their days. 

The purpose of the Young Families Pastor is to aid us in this endeavour by providing leadership to the “home front” of Grace Church, equipping parents in their task of discipling their children and raising them in the training and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).

The age group focus for our Young Families Pastor is pre-school through to year 6.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide pastoral leadership and care to parents (and their children) with priority given to those inside the church, then those in close connection to Grace, and then to those in the wider community (Gal. 6:10).
  • Create a culture where parents are enabled to disciple, nurture, and equip their children in the Christian faith, helping them fulfil their responsibility as the primary spiritual leaders for their children.
  • Lead regular parenting training on topics specific to age and needs of our children and their families.
  • Coach parents and children privately on specific issues in their family.
  • Explore ways to engage with parents of young families outside of Grace and develop connections in the community.
  • Assist the Children’s Ministry Director in connecting the young families of Grace Church with the respective ministries for their children.

LEAD PASTOR - SUMMIT CHURCH

Summit Church is looking for a dynamic & experienced person to lead us in our mission to Passionately love God and to Purposefully love others, as our new Lead Pastor.

We are excited about the right person joining the team, to provide overall leadership to our pastoral staff team, as well as communicating a clear vision and direction to the wider church whanau. They will have a passion for God, a deep love for His people, and display strong Christian character. The right candidate will have experience in preaching regularly, leading & developing ministry teams, and strategic planning. 

Great communication skills, high relational intelligence & a willingness to take necessary risks are all essential. A formal qualification in theology / church leadership is desirable, but not essential.
