YOUTH PASTOR - BIRKENHEAD COMMUNITY CHURCH

We are looking to employ a full-time pastor to lead our ministry to young people. Could it be you?

Who are we?
On your first visit, the you’ll be blown away by just how extravagantly generous and welcoming the people are. The second thing you’ll notice is how many children are running around laughing. Birkenhead Community Church is vibrant community church with a strong sense of family.

Our services are built around sung worship led by a band, an expository sermon from one of the preaching team and a celebration of Holy Communion. We love to eat together after the services and virtually every event the church puts on involves wonderful catering.
Our Youth Ministry currently consists of a fortnightly Friday social, a weekly Tuesday evening small group and a weekly Sunday School for 11-14s. The potential for growth is enormous because of the nature of our building, the local demographics, the number about to move up from kids’ church and the creativity amongst individuals already involved. There is such opportunity to develop different ideas, youth services, special interest groups and to explore partnerships with other churches or parachurch organisations.

Who are you?
You are someone who loves God with all your heart and you have a passion for helping teenagers find life with God through Jesus. The best pastors come in all shapes and sizes and no one has a perfect set of skills but if you have a great relationship with God, the young people and the other church leaders then you’ll be alright!
Specifically, you probably have experience in leading young people – and you will have to be comfortable leading our team of volunteers. You probably have stories of seeing young people come to faith from Christian and non- Christian backgrounds. You are great at communication – verbal, written and web-based comms are going to be a major part of your job.
If you have any skills in music, preaching, cooking, sports, performing arts, graphic design, languages or anything really, we would love to find a way for you to develop and express them to serve the church. We are really looking forward to you to joining us, serving with us and seeing what God has for this exciting season.

What should you do?
Get in touch with Dan, our pastor and he’ll send you the job pack. He would love to hear from you if you have any questions or want to visit. Closing date for applications is Thursday 23rd January 2020.

Email dan@bcc.org.nz or phone +64 22 687 7406

When you decide to apply then email your CV to Dan with a covering letter (one side of A4 to show us how you fit the profile above) and if you’ve got a website, a sermon online somewhere or something else you’re proud of online then send us a link to that too.
